Laptops Types
Comet/GSIBs are meant for intranet related work - usually more locked down. While still able to access the internet, it is mainly used for accessing Outlook or the M365 Suite.
Security Suite for Engineering Endpoint Devices (SEED) laptops are meant for development. Some certain locks and checks are in place, but feel free to install anything you need for development.
On SEEDing
Generally, you may seed any laptops to be used as a development laptop. However, you may also request for one to be issued for you from the Equip page. Equip will generally issue a Macbook.
Bring Your Own Device is generally not recommended since SEEDing on Windows require Bitlocker and a clean format.
If T-loaned a device while waiting for the Macbook to be received, you will need to accept the asset(s) on the Asset Management System (AMS) site.
CalSync
CalSync is a calendar syncing app that overlays your Outlook calendar on your Comet on top of your system default Calendar on your phone.
To set it up, follow the Calsync instructions on the PDF and set it up on both Comet and on your phone.
It will take up to 6 hours before the sync actually happens. Ensure that you allow your @tech.gov.sg account to make changes on your system calendar!
AI Enablement
AI Usage will be dependent on which OS you are running. For Mac users, they will mostly rely on Claude Code / Copilot, while Windows users are only able to use Copilot at the moment.
